Overpaying foe Student loans

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have paid my loans twice and continue to consistently pay each month. This company should be ashamed of how they treat those that continually pay. The c-suite should take time to review how they can correct this gap of overpayment rather than worrying about filling their pockets with these high interest rates. This needs to stop!

Changing payments without notice or reason!

AES changed my monthly payment with no notice for no reason. THEN charged me a Late Fee! This service provider is the worst, by far. I've had problems with them for many years now.

Disgusted with anyone's ability to financially burden anyone this way!

I did not originally go through AES. I borrowed a student loan from Bank of America and they sold it to AES. I have been paying since 2007 on a $10k loan and will pay until 2031 according to the interest rate. This should be criminal! Absolutely terrible and will be looking into a resolve from this happening to any other student!

Just let me start out by saying that If I could give a negative score I would have. I have been paying on my student loan since 2008 and it never goes down !!. They state that I took out a loan for 30,000 more than what I actually took it out for i have already paid 36,000 on a 43,000 loan I have the promissory note short of getting an attorney they will not listen to my complaints . One staff member recently told me that AES is like a credit card company with regards to how they bill interest WHAT !!I

Billed for interest and penalty during loan payment suspension period in CARES act.

CARES act provides for automatic deferral of interest and principal from March until Sept. 30. AES is billing for interest and penalties.

I signed for my daughters student loans through AES and then the unthinkable happened she was in a car crash and was on life support for a year and a half. we could not bear to let her live her life like that and let her go. now i have to pay her student loans. i sent AES a letter asking for some sort of help. they refused and still want their money i am 61 years old and there is no way i could pay this off in my lifetime especially with a 7.85 interest rate. she had a smaller loan threw Navient and when they found out they forgave the loan completely. Stay away from ARS

Payments lost

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Three times this year, the payments have "not been received." While checks have not been cashed, there are late fees and accrued interest added to loan amount. Within the last three weeks, 2 checks have been "lost in the mail." These two checks were mailed from two different post offices. The AES representatives push for on-line payments or "mail your checks certified." These options don't really work for me as 1. I am the co-signer of the loan and write checks on my son's bank account for this loan because he lives out of country; 2. why would I want to pay more to mail the checks when there has never been an issue up until this year? Exactly what is going on with American Education Services?

They are clueless

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have been trying to payoff my loan for weeks now. I get messages saying they returned my payment because it was rejected by my financial instutiion (PNC). I have spoke with PNC two times now and they say they never received any payments, or have never rejected anything. That something is wrong on AES end. I have called AES and customer support does not know what's going on. I have been placed on hold numerous times and transferred to multiple people. No one knows the answer. I'm basically stuck. And to kick it off, Every single day $1.25 is added to my loan through interest. So I am now on day 20 since I've tried paying off the loan. That is an extra $25 so far. I am on the phone with them right now and they now say it will be another week until things clear on their end to see my situation. However, the interest still builds. They "unfortunately" cannot pause interest or revert it back to my original payment. So because they are making mistakes on their end, I have to pay an extra $30-50 (don't know how long it will take). Its not a great deal of money in comparison to the loan. But anyone who paid off a large student loan will tell you, this hassle and extra money at the end is devastating. I just want it paid off but they basically aren't taking my money. Look elsewhere when trying to fund school.

FRAUDULENTLY CHANGED LOAN TERMS

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have been paying private student loans with the servicer Aes for the past NINE years ! Three of those loans were taken out as fixed rate loans.

Aes has changed the terms and are telling me that I have a variable rate loan. In 1 million years I would never take out a variable rate loan, they are too risky. I have repeatedly requested copies of the actual loan application which prove they have always been fixed rate loans. Several years later, Aes has still not complied with my request.

They keep sending ambiguous promissory notes that do not contain any interest rate, no loan amount, and no terms. They tell me that my promissory note IS my application! I don’t think so! Despite having paid over $60,000 on those three loans, the principal amount on all three loans combined has only declined by $6000 !

When I ask them how this is even possible, I never get a straight answer! I have just requested paperwork to file a complaint against them with the consumer financial protection bureau . This loan servicer is a den of thieves !! A word to the wise when you are taking out student loans, make copies of all caps everything, including your loan application.

Look for the interest rate and terms to be clearly printed on your documents before you sign anything . The bank that these private loans were taken out from is Citizens Bank, and they are just as culpable in the fraud that Aes is perpetrating!

I am going through the same thing. In the past 5 years we have paid $14,000 and our loan has INCREASED by $4.000 !!

In the last year we paid $3.700 and our loan DID NOT decrease by one single cent. This is beyond unethical and I can never get a straight answer when I call them. I have filed a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and AES did reply with a long drawn out crazy letter explaining the jacked up increases and amount owed. Total B.S.

if you ask me.

I cannot get original documents. I have also filed a compliant with the Attorney General.

Vaibhav Pvj

They’ve been doing the same to me. I’ve been paying for 12 years and the loan term has been extended multiple times without my knowledge/approval.

Do not take out student loans especially with this company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Reasons for class action suits being filed against U.S. govt. and student loan services and colleges & universities that profited: 1) Not giving students the proper information correctly and efficiently. 2) Changes in interests rates such as "variable" rates locked in that are not variable because they never go down and go only one way - up.
